Weddings
Any time of year is perfect for a wedding in Ouray. The summer climate is pleasant, with low humidity and warm temperatures. Cool crisp air and warm days are typical of the fall season and the winters are spectacular with clear blue skies and glistening powder snow. Ouray offers a change of pace, stunning scenery, fresh air, and the opportunity for fabulous wedding photos.
You can choose this beautiful mountain setting for an indoor wedding as well. Ouray is home to a number of churches; many of the buildings have retained their historical spirit, reflecting over a hundred years of community. You can even arrange, on your own or with the aid of local assistance, for your floral arrangements, catering, cakes and chocolates, photography, music, hair stylist, nails and massage, wedding gifts and registries, lodging, and perhaps even unique wedding rings from one of our local jewelers, all right here in Ouray.
Requirements
- Age-18 years or older: Bring either your birth certificate or driver’s license for your proof of age.
- Under 18 years: Parents must be present.
- Divorced: Provide date and the town and state where the divorce was final.
- Blood tests are not required in Colorado.
Fees & License
- License fee: $10
- Ouray County Courthouse, 541 Fourth Street, Ouray, CO 81427 (970.325.4961) 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding all holidays)
- License is valid for 30 days at any location in State of Colorado.
Additional Information
- Colorado State law allows that parties may perform their own wedding ceremony or have it performed by a non-licensed individual. Parties should list the word “themselves” or the name of the individual as the officiating person on the third line of the marriage certificate form. The individual or couple should sign on the line designated for the clergy and then sign as “Bride & Groom”.
- Your Certificate must be returned to the County Clerk and Recorder who issued the license within 60 days of the marriage date.
- Witnesses are not required for a valid marriage.
