Galleries

Gallery Artists have been visiting Ouray for years trying to capture both the beauty and tranquility of this very special place either on canvas or film. Ouray has now become home to many of these artists who display their talents in either their own gallery or offer their art at one of the many galleries in town.

The Ouray County Arts Association is also extremely active and has developed a number of judged art shows and exhibits that occur throughout the year. The primary annual show occurs in August -- Annual Artists' Alpine Holiday. This is a juried show and exhibition with monetary awards for first, second, third place and honorable mention in each of eight different categories, plus "Best of Show". The categories include oil & acrylic, water media, sculpture, photography, pastels, drawing, mixed media and original digital art. There is also a students' (18 years of age and under) level for any of the above mentioned categories.
